Acácio Matos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jairo Falcão, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Delfim Ferreira might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Acácio Matos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Delfim Ferreira ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience thought a goal was coming when David Guerra got free with Luiz Paulo Brito in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 22nd minute, Raúl Ferraz left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Magalhaes fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Delfim Ferreira in the 29th minute of play forced Magalhaes's goalkeeper Acácio Matos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Delfim Ferreira in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Acácio Matos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Arlindo Linares blasted a shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Acácio Matos having to make a save. After 38 minutes of play, Hard Rock's Delfim Ferreira made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Acácio Matos was left in no man's land by his defense there! Raúl Ferraz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Luiz Paulo Brito showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from David Guerra in the 76th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Hard Rock defense, Percival Brasil kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Luiz Paulo Brito. The Hard Rock fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Luiz Paulo Brito should have stopped the shot. David Guerra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Delfim Ferreira struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. Acácio Matos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hard Rock. Chiquinho Félix kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Jairo Falcão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute.
