But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aílton Baptista couldn't finish the play. In the 17th minute the ball was on its way in behind Pirambu EC's goalkeeper Wellington Chaves, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 26 minutes of play, Sport Clube Lasanha's Aílton Baptista made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Wellington Chaves was left in no man's land by his defense there! Albertinho de Lima fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vivaldo Marques having to interfere. Wellington Chaves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Guilherme Seco in the 44th minute of play. The Pirambu EC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Sport Clube Lasanha were winning 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Aílton Baptista stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Vivaldo Marques showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivo Soeiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Jean Guimarães recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 59th minute of the game. One of Sport Clube Lasanha:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Pirambu EC:s goal. In the 69th minute, Ivo Loureiro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Pirambu EC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. A collision led to Sport Clube Lasanha getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Wilian Nogueira hit a great ball. In the 83rdth minute of the game Albertinho de Lima who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sport Clube Lasanha's Vivaldo Marques was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 92nd minute, Ivo Loureiro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vivaldo Marques was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. Ronaldão Coelho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Pirambu EC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Sport Clube Lasanha had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
