A collision led to LURAFA getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Carlos Fernando Dante hit a great ball. In the 5th minute Geovanni Andrade suffered a foot injury and had to be helped off the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Téo Montenegro during the 5th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 6 played minutes LURAFA got a freekick which was hit by Téo Montenegro. In the 7th match minute, Grêmio FBPA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aírton Quirino to maneuver through the defense. Luís Cearense came free with the goalkeeper in the 8th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Gernando da Silveira could save by the left post. Alex Salles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Alan França tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Váldson Freire received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Gernando da Silveira came out and tried to block the shot, but Váldson Freire slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 20th minute. Váldson Freire sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 36th minute, Váldson Freire fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. With a little luck, Grêmio FBPA's Gernando da Silveira got control of the ball when Luís Cearense tried to sneak it across the goal line. 39 minutes in the game, Váldson Freire fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Gernando da Silveira having to interfere. In the 40th minute, Osmar Vidal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 43 minutes into the game, Aírton Quirino was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Grêmio FBPA's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave LURAFA the free kick. The supporters of LURAFA booed when Grêmio FBPA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aírton Quirino didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gernando da Silveira made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when Luís Cearense sent off a good shot on target. Váldson Freire received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Gernando da Silveira came out and tried to block the shot, but Váldson Freire slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 46th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alex Salles to strike the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Váldson Freire's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gernando da Silveira was relentless in the 52nd minute of the game. Luís Cearense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Gernando da Silveira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Grêmio FBPA's Carlos Fernando Cardoso got a free kick in the 55th minute. In the 61stth minute of the game Luís Cearense who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Grêmio FBPA's Gernando da Silveira was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Grêmio FBPA booed when LURAFA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gino Marinho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alan França made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alex Salles in the 78th minute. In the 82nd minute there was a penalty for LURAFA. Gino Marinho stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Gernando da Silveira. 4-0. Gernando da Silveira didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luís Cearense went, in the 90th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-0 was the resulting score. Grêmio FBPA's Alex Salles got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. LURAFA had played much better football throughout.
