Sanfogo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ramón Araújo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Marquinhos Abreu during the 18th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 18 played minutes Asilo das velhas obesas got a freekick which was hit by Marquinhos Abreu. If Paulinho Trevisan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. With his leg Cássio Meirelles managed to avoid a goal in the 32ndth minute, when Asilo das velhas obesas's Paulinho Trevisan fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Ediberto Tasso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Paulinho Trevisan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Cássio Meirelles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Charles Maia kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. With 45 minutes on the clock, Valdemar Cordeiro commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Asilo das velhas obesas fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 44th minute. Penalty! After the first half Sanfogo were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

A collision led to Sanfogo getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Charles Maia hit a great ball. João Carlos Maia was a little too slow when Ediberto Tasso got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 71st minute. The score was now 0-2. João Carlos Maia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ramón Araújo in the 77th minute of the match. João Carlos Maia didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 82nd minute, which inside left pole to 0-3. The Sanfogo supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Sanfogo would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
