Rodriguinho Goiano kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. In the 19th minute, Rodriguinho Goiano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Porto Seguro F.C's Agostinho Rossi got a free kick in the 26th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Diamantino da Cunha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gongonhas SS's supporters rose to their feet, but Diamantino da Cunha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Abel Falcão breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Célio Trevisan in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Abel Falcão saved Porto Seguro F.C from getting behind. After 33 minutes, Diamantino da Cunha mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gongonhas SS and the Porto Seguro F.C players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Porto Seguro F.C booed when Gongonhas SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diamantino da Cunha didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gongonhas SS's Dito da Silva got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Carlos Mesquita fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Porto Seguro F.C's protests and gave Carlos Mesquita a yellow card for diving instead. Murillo Bastos charged in rather forcefully in the 43rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Murillo Bastos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Murillo Bastos kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Chico Antunes was the one to do the kick off. Chico Antunes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Abel Falcão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julio-César Fenomeno made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dino de Queirós in the 60th minute of play. Dedé Cavalcante hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. Porto Seguro F.C's Abel Falcão proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Porto Seguro F.C from getting a goal against them. When Chico Antunes got free in front of the goal in the 67th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Abel Falcão was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dino de Queirós in the 69th minute of play forced Gongonhas SS's goalkeeper Julio-César Fenomeno to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Diamantino da Cunha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Abel Falcão made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Célio Trevisan sent off a good shot on target. Gongonhas SS's Julio-César Fenomeno played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Pedro de Amorim in the 75th minute of play. Sebastião Fernandes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Porto Seguro F.C getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Jairo Zonta hit a great ball. Abel Falcão was out of position in the 88 minute of play, and Sebastião Fernandes capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Sebastião Fernandes really showed his touch with that goal: 0-2. Julio-César Fenomeno made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodriguinho Goiano in the 93rd minute of play. Gongonhas SS's Julio-César Fenomeno played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dino de Queirós in the 96th minute of play. The Porto Seguro F.C fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Gongonhas SS were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
