Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Adalberto Alagoano started the match with the kick off. The supporters of Cataguazes SC booed when Tabajara was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jânio Tinoco didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cataguazes SC's Vito Saraiva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zé Massa in the 19th minute of play. Cesinha Dante sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Tabajara's Danilo Salles proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save Tabajara from getting a goal against them. Danilo Salles was a little too slow when Nilton Santos got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 21st minute. The score was now 1-1. Vito Saraiva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adalberto Alagoano in the 33rd minute of play. The supporters of Tabajara booed when Cataguazes SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Waldemar Galvão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Danilo Salles made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cesinha Dante in the 38th minute. Zé Massa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vito Saraiva having to interfere. Vito Saraiva stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Adalberto Alagoano's shot from short distance in the 48th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Vito Saraiva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arthur de Almeida in the 52nd minute of play. Vito Saraiva made an important save on a dangerous shot by Zé Massa in the 58th minute. When Arthur de Almeida fell near the penalty area in the 63rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tabajara's protests and gave Arthur de Almeida a yellow card for diving instead. Arthur de Almeida hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. Zé Massa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Vito Saraiva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Cesinha Dante had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zé Massa struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. Vito Saraiva didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tabajara. Zé Massa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adalberto Alagoano in the 79th minute of play forced Cataguazes SC's goalkeeper Vito Saraiva to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Tabajara's Arthur de Almeida got a free kick in the 83rd minute. When Fiori França fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cataguazes SC's protests and gave Fiori França a yellow card for diving instead. Fiori França kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. When Tabajara's Adalberto Alagoano in the 87th minute got a chance for a shot 87th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Cataguazes SC's goalie prevented a goal. Nilton Santos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Zé Massa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vito Saraiva having to interfere. Vito Saraiva was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Adalberto Alagoano showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 97 minute of play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Tabajara had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
