Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Nestor Siqueira started the match with the kick off. After 2 played minutes Itororo got a freekick which was hit by Jeremias Siqueira. After some fancy dribbling in the 5th minute, Paulo José Amaral managed to get in a good position for a shot. Real Sertões F.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Paulo José Amaral was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Flávio de Azevedo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Toninho Paulista in the 9th minute of play forced Itororo's goalkeeper Flávio de Azevedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Toninho Paulista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Paulo José Amaral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Nestor Siqueira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eliézer Guerra got free with Valério Magalhães in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Itororo booed when Real Sertões F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucas Arantes didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 21 minutes, Paulo José Amaral managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Real Sertões F.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paulo José Amaral was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Itororo's zone, Toninho Paulista stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Flávio de Azevedo came out of the goal and Toninho Paulista tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Eliézer Guerra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Paulo José Amaral fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Real Sertões F.C's protests and gave Paulo José Amaral a yellow card for diving instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eliézer Guerra got free with Valério Magalhães in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Flávio de Azevedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adilson Antunes in the 42nd minute of the match. Nestor Siqueira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valério Magalhães having to interfere. In the 46th minute Toninho Paulista shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flávio de Azevedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Toninho Paulista stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Eliézer Guerra struck a weak shot in the 51st minute. Valério Magalhães didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Itororo. After a rather tough play, Real Sertões F.C's Adilson Antunes got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Nestor Siqueira took the ball and in the 60 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Valério Magalhães. Valério Magalhães dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Flávio de Azevedo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Paulo José Amaral in the 63rd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Paulo José Amaral got free with Flávio de Azevedo in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Toninho Paulista fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flávio de Azevedo having to interfere. After 74 played minutes Real Sertões F.C got a freekick which was hit by Diogo Trevisan. Valério Magalhães showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nestor Siqueira, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. 80 minutes into the match, Nestor Siqueira had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Valério Magalhães. Real Sertões F.C's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Nestor Siqueira was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Nestor Siqueira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Nestor Siqueira came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Itororo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nestor Siqueira couldn't finish the play. 95 minutes into the match, Itororo's goalkeeper Flávio de Azevedo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Paulo José Amaral. If Toninho Paulista had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.
