Fabiano Quintal charged in rather forcefully in the 11th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fabiano Quintal the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 10th minute, one of Demux - FSCMZ:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Demux - FSCMZ. The referee gave Joinville a penalty, 12 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Elivélton Mello, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Demux - FSCMZ's Horácio Branco. 0-1. In the 17th match minute, Joinville was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Valdo de Lara to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valdo de Lara in the 20th minute of play forced Demux - FSCMZ's goalkeeper Horácio Branco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. João Paulo Koehler fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Horácio Branco having to interfere. João Paulo Koehler scored 0-2 in the 24th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Horácio Branco, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Valdo de Lara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Horácio Branco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 32ndth minute of the game João Paulo Koehler who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Demux - FSCMZ's Horácio Branco was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a little luck, Joinville's Oswaldo Passos got control of the ball when Pedro Tasso tried to sneak it across the goal line. 39 minutes into the match, Demux - FSCMZ's goal looked a bit too open when Valdo de Lara came free, but Horácio Branco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edmílson Capixaba fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oswaldo Passos having to interfere. In the 45th minute, Luís Sanches hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Demux - FSCMZ's zone, João Paulo Koehler stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Horácio Branco came out of the goal and João Paulo Koehler tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Horácio Branco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Paulo Koehler, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Pedro Tasso to strike the kick off in the second half. If Valdo de Lara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A hard shot 57 in the game by Valdo de Lara from a close distance when the talented Horácio Branco managed to make a qualified save. Demux - FSCMZ's players were relieved. After 59 played minutes Joinville got a freekick which was hit by Osvaldinho Dias. In the 67th match minute, Demux - FSCMZ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Pedrão Falcão to maneuver through the defense. 71 minutes into the match, Joinville's Valdo de Lara sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Horácio Branco narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Valdo de Lara recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. João Paulo Koehler fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Horácio Branco having to interfere. Horácio Branco made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Valdo de Lara sent off a good shot on target. In the 79th minute, Joinville's João Paulo Koehler dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-3. Oswaldo Passos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edmílson Capixaba in the 91st minute of play. 97 minutes into the match, Joinville's goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Tasso came free, but Oswaldo Passos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Demux - FSCMZ supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Joinville's performance. The match ended with a win for Joinville.
