The supporters of EC Caucaia booed when Creciuna AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Francisco Urbano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ronaldo Pereira, 12 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After 16 minutes, Ronaldo Pereira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the EC Caucaia and the Creciuna AD players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 16th match minute, EC Caucaia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ronaldo Pereira to maneuver through the defense. Pedro Augusto Leal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 22 minutes, Pedro Augusto Leal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Creciuna AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pedro Augusto Leal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 27 played minutes EC Caucaia got a freekick which was hit by Severino Selmo. When the match clock showed 31 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Jan-Olof Vennerkvist sped through Creciuna AD's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Fernandão Vergílio. Marcel Dionísio's late challenge caught a EC Caucaia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marcel Dionísio helped the player get up and apologised. Marcel Dionísio kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. 44 minutes into the game, Nuno Schmidt was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Creciuna AD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave EC Caucaia the free kick. After a rather tough play, Creciuna AD's Nuno Schmidt got a free kick in the 44th minute. An unexpected shot in the 47th minute by Marco Nazario got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Arnaldo Ortiz in the 51st minute of play forced EC Caucaia's goalkeeper Bruno Santana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marco Nazario received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Fernandão Vergílio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fernandão Vergílio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juan Linhares, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Fernandão Vergílio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jan-Olof Vennerkvist's shot from short distance in the 56th minute. 60 minutes into the match, EC Caucaia's Jan-Olof Vennerkvist sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fernandão Vergílio narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Bruno Santana made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Pedro Augusto Leal sent off a good shot on target. Dráusio Paranaense's late challenge caught a EC Caucaia's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dráusio Paranaense helped the player get up and apologised. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 64th minute of the game. One of Creciuna AD:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of EC Caucaia:s goal. After 71 played minutes EC Caucaia got a freekick which was hit by Cauan Castro. In the 74th minute Creciuna AD were awarded a corner. Dráusio Paranaense went to the cornerflag to take it. Jan-Olof Vennerkvist sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 78 minutes of play Creciuna AD's Dráusio Paranaense was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In a very dangerous position, a player in Creciuna AD fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 77th minute. Penalty! 80 minutes into the game, EC Caucaia's Ronaldo Pereira nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Fernandão Vergílio made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. If Jan-Olof Vennerkvist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marco Nazario recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 93rd minute, Luís Fabiano Paraíba hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The long shot by Genílson Velloso in the 94th minute really tested Bruno Santana's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. 96 minutes into the match, EC Caucaia's goalkeeper Bruno Santana had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pedro Augusto Leal. Pedro Augusto Leal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 99th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bruno Santana having to interfere. EC Caucaia were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Creciuna AD for a fine match.
