Raimundo Xavier made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. After 14 played minutes Foz do Iguaçu got a freekick which was hit by Armandinho Matos. In the 17th match minute, Foz do Iguaçu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tales Tróia to maneuver through the defense. Fabrício Campidelis struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Raimundo Xavier didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Flu Galático. Umberto Santos kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. After having played for 27 minutes, Augusto Sanches managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Flu Galático's supporters crossed their fingers, but Augusto Sanches was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Raimundo Xavier made an important save on a dangerous shot by Zé Paulo Carioca in the 29th minute. Raimundo Xavier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Augusto Sanches, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Augusto Sanches was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 39th minute. Flu Galático's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. After 40 played minutes Foz do Iguaçu got a freekick which was hit by Umberto Santos. 42 minutes into the match, Flu Galático's Augusto Sanches sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Raimundo Xavier narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 46th minute, Fabrício Campidelis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

In the 53rd minute Alphonse-Marie Tchami shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Raimundo Xavier saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 孔风义's late challenge caught a Foz do Iguaçu's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. Foz do Iguaçu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Silvinho Pires was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee showed Zé Paulo Carioca the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Foz do Iguaçu booed when Flu Galático was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zé Paulo Carioca didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match had gone on for 82 minutes, Fábio Rodrigues took a quick shot and it went in 4-1 without a chance for Paulinho Saraiva to make any attempt to save it.
