Axinim's supporters crossed their fingers, but Valdir Ferraz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Foz do Iguaçu's attentive Silvinho Pires managed to snatch the ball when Dadá de Medeiros made a throw-in in the 13th minute of the game. The supporters of Axinim booed when Foz do Iguaçu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chicão Monteiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Silvinho Macedo kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Raimundo Xavier. That made the score 1-0 in the 15 minute of play. If Fábio Rodrigues had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Foz do Iguaçu were awarded a corner in the 24th minute after Axinim's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Fábio Rodrigues took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Fábio Rodrigues got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Moisés Correia quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The supporters of Foz do Iguaçu booed when Axinim was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hernani Simão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Foz do Iguaçu's Umberto Santos got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 34 played minutes Axinim got a freekick which was hit by Silvinho Macedo. Silvinho Macedo scored 2-0 in the 42nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Raimundo Xavier, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Umberto Santos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Foz do Iguaçu's supporters rose to their feet, but Umberto Santos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Moisés Correia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The Axinim players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
