Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Loramendi Ugarte kicked off to start the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 8th minute, Flavinho Peixoto managed to get in a good position for a shot. Curupai's supporters rose to their feet, but Flavinho Peixoto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Augusto Lara breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Curupai's Rogério Bueno got a free kick in the 12th minute. Carlos Eduardo de Senna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Loramendi Ugarte in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Augusto Lara prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 27th minute, Loramendi Ugarte got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Defensores F.C.'s Luizinho Sergipano got a free kick in the 39th minute. Mário Lara hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. Luizinho Sergipano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Loramendi Ugarte hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Edgar de Salles's late challenge caught a Curupai's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Edgar de Salles helped the player get up and apologised. After 47 played minutes Defensores F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Edgar de Salles. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Zeca Queiroz was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Zeca Queiroz had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Roger Borges. Curupai's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Zeca Queiroz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. When Edson Simão came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Curupai fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edson Simão couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Loramendi Ugarte in the 84th minute of play forced Defensores F.C.'s goalkeeper Augusto Lara to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Curupai's Edson Simão got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Augusto Lara didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Curupai. The Defensores F.C. players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
