In the 9th minute of the match Rony Proença shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Horacio Diegotxe showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 10th match minute, PIRIPERI FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Benedito de Carvalho to maneuver through the defense. PIRIPERI FC's attentive Benedito de Carvalho managed to snatch the ball when Carlinhos Meireles made a throw-in in the 12th minute of the game. 17 minutes into the match, PIRIPERI FC's goal looked a bit too open when Aírton Nascimento came free, but Horacio Diegotxe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 25 minutes into the match, PIRIPERI FC's goalkeeper Horacio Diegotxe had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alfredão Meira. PIRIPERI FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luís Fábio Britto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Orlando Lucas made a kick off. Orlando Lucas who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 53rdth minute tested the skills of Américo Vieira when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When Wágner Mineiro came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the llans Football fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wágner Mineiro couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Waldemar Silveira in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Horacio Diegotxe saved PIRIPERI FC from getting behind. In the 60th minute Wágner Mineiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Horacio Diegotxe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched PIRIPERI FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
