After a defensive mix-up in Botafogo's zone, Manuel Vale stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benedito Gomes came out of the goal and Manuel Vale tried to chip the ball over his head. After 77 played minutes Botafogo got a freekick which was hit by Gonçalo da Rocha. Richard Rezende showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luisinho Santos, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. After 81 played minutes, Botafogo's Dedé Pinheiro shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Richard Rezende came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Botafogo reached it. Dadá Rocha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luisinho Santos in the 88th minute of play forced Ingazeira's goalkeeper Richard Rezende to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
