Alexandre Souto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Mazinho Fernandez made a huge save. The crowd rose to their feet as Jeronimo Sagrario kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Mazinho Fernandez. That made the score 3-0 in the 17 minute of play. Thanks to some nice moves Alexandre Souto could shoot a difficult shot in the 20th minute, which Mazinho Fernandez however easily saved by the left post. In the 20th match minute, HELVETIA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fernando Pombal to maneuver through the defense. A hard shot by Virgílio Teles from long distance, 21 minutes into the match, got Mazinho Fernandez's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Alexandre Souto received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Mazinho Fernandez came out and tried to block the shot, but Alexandre Souto slotted it home off the left post making it 4-0 in the 23rd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alexandre Souto in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mazinho Fernandez saved HELVETIA from getting behind. 27 minutes into the match, Jeronimo Sagrario notched a goal, 5-0, to the right of HELVETIA's Mazinho Fernandez. Mazinho Fernandez was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Glauco Carneiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Mazinho Fernandez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 33rd minute, Glauco Carneiro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mazinho Fernandez was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-0. From close distance Alexandre Souto pressed in the 7-0 goal high up into nets stiches in the right cross 38 minutes into the game. Alexandre Souto kicked a quick shot right in front of the goal in the 43rdth minute. Though ot was a great shot HELVETIA's keeper Mazinho Fernandez was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 7-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Luís Fernando Vergílio to strike the kick off in the second half. Denílson Cunha kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. After some careless play in the HELVETIA defense, Glauco Carneiro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mazinho Fernandez. The HELVETIA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mazinho Fernandez should have stopped the shot. Lucas Leiva kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Glauco Carneiro scored 10-0 in the 64th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mazinho Fernandez, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 68 minutes of play, EC São José's Alexandre Souto made it 11-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mazinho Fernandez was left in no man's land by his defense there! Mazinho Fernandez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alexandre Souto in the 73rd minute of play. 76 minutes into the match, Alexandre Souto had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mazinho Fernandez. HELVETIA's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alexandre Souto was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 12-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alexandre Souto in the 79th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mazinho Fernandez saved HELVETIA from getting behind. 80 minutes had been played when some careless play by HELVETIA's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luiz Fernando Goiano was slow to take the kick. During this time EC São José's players had a chance to rest. 87 minutes into the match, Alexandre Souto had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mazinho Fernandez. HELVETIA's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alexandre Souto was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 14-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Glauco Carneiro in the 90th minute of play forced HELVETIA's goalkeeper Mazinho Fernandez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alexandre Souto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Glauco Carneiro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mazinho Fernandez read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. EC São José walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
