Palestra's Ernani Baptista fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Filipe Netto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vágner da Rocha in the 25th minute of play. Faustão Freire received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ernani Baptista to make the kick off. Wilson Coelho kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ernani Baptista in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Filipe Netto saved Maraja from getting behind. João Pedro Palmeira struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Gláuber Ramalho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Maraja.
