The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 3 minutes, Marvin Salamanca managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Matanza and Steelers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marvin Salamanca was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 4th minute Marvin Salamanca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rodolfo Salgado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Marvin Salamanca kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Rodolfo Salgado. That made the score 1-0 in the 5 minute of play. In the 8thth minute of the game Wilton Vale who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Matanza and Steelers's Renan Mendes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 9 minutes into the match, Matanza and Steelers's goal looked a bit too open when Ernani Souto came free, but Renan Mendes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 11th minute of the match TAQUARI FC got a corner. Matanza and Steelers's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ismael Pilas ran over to the corner to take the kick. TAQUARI FC's Igor Tinoco was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Renan Mendes in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Aaron Tello could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Rodolfo Salgado made a huge save. After 20 played minutes Matanza and Steelers got a freekick which was hit by Edmondo Aloisi. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Wilton Vale in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Renan Mendes saved Matanza and Steelers from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Leysus Oktavianus got free with Rodolfo Salgado in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 33rd minute, Wilton Vale hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rodolfo Salgado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from César Lucas in the 35th minute of the match. 36 minutes into the match, TAQUARI FC's goalkeeper Rodolfo Salgado had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Benjamin de Lara. In the 38th minute Marvin Salamanca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rodolfo Salgado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Renan Mendes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ernani Souto in the 89th minute of the match. Renan Correia's late challenge caught a TAQUARI FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Renan Correia helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Matanza and Steelers's Renan Correia got a free kick in the 90th minute. Renan Mendes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manoel Mandrak, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Aaron Tello came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Matanza and Steelers fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aaron Tello couldn't finish the play. There was no doubt that Matanza and Steelers were the better team. Matanza and Steelers's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
