In the 8th minute, Breno Donato hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 11th minute of the game Vladimir Couto made a throw-in which Ciro Zanette played forward. José Vítor de Souza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rüknettin Şahin, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. In the 23rd minute Rüknettin Şahin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Vítor de Souza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 27 minutes into the match, Wellington Phoenix's goal looked a bit too open when Rüknettin Şahin came free, but José Vítor de Souza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rüknettin Şahin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 31 minutes, Vladimir Couto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Wellington Phoenix and the Desportivo Coala players grew even worse after the yellow card. Rüknettin Şahin blasted a shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without José Vítor de Souza having to make a save. José Vítor de Souza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rüknettin Şahin, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Ahti Isu made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when Erivaldo Pernambucano sent off a good shot on target. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

José Vítor de Souza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rüknettin Şahin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Charles Puyol kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Wellington Phoenix made a substitution. André Luís Netto replaced Erivaldo Pernambucano. A collision led to Wellington Phoenix getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Charles Puyol hit a great ball. Rüknettin Şahin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but José Vítor de Souza made a huge save. Wellington Phoenix's defense didn't have a chance, in the 63rd minute, when Rüknettin Şahin scored to the left of an out of position José Vítor de Souza, making the score, 0-2. José Vítor de Souza made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rüknettin Şahin in the 79th minute. In the 84th minute, Rüknettin Şahin made a precise shot to the right of José Vítor de Souza. Wellington Phoenix's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Rüknettin Şahin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute.
