Wiliam Simão was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Rod Marsland showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 37 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Silas de Brito in the 40th minute of play forced Aguinhas's goalkeeper Walmyr Queirós to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rod Marsland got free with Wiliam Simão in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rod Marsland made a kick off. The crowd rose to their feet as Cruzmaltinos FC - DMZ's Pedro Freitas slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Walmyr Queirós. That made the score 1-2 after 50 minutes of play.
