In the 33rd minute Independente AC were awarded a corner. Hermínio Figueiredo went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led to Independente AC's Camillo Sciarretta getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Borys Gruchacz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kamber Aktaş, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Joinville United - FSCMZ getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Arne Offendahl hit a great ball. In the 42nd minute of the match Hermínio Figueiredo shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Borys Gruchacz showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. When the match had gone on for 47 minutes, Silvinho Corrêa put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Borys Gruchacz. Joinville United - FSCMZ made a substitution. Maurício Donatello replaced Didi Cardozo. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Silvinho Corrêa stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Independente AC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
