After a defensive mix-up in Lucila's zone, Leonel Santxol stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ulises Peruxu came out of the goal and Leonel Santxol tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 21st minute, Alberto Barrionuevo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Lucila booed when Ecuaciones de Maxwell was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Baltasar Filipo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Alberto Barrionuevo in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eustacio Milian prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Elpidio Leocadio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 39th minute, Baltasar Filipo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ceferino Gorri during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Alberto Barrionuevo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Hernan Larpe hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alberto Barrionuevo to make the kick off. Ecuaciones de Maxwell's Eustacio Milian played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hernan Larpe in the 51st minute of play. Damian Tello fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eustacio Milian having to interfere. After 66 minutes, Erubiel Ixona mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ecuaciones de Maxwell and the Lucila players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Lucila booed when Ecuaciones de Maxwell was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Erubiel Ixona didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alberto Barrionuevo was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 80th minute. Lucila's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance.
