Generoso Clis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ovidio Gonza, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Augusto Txurio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edgard Felipillo in the 18th minute of play. River Plate's Generoso Clis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cesar Poncio in the 22nd minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cesar Poncio made a kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Edgard Felipillo managed to get in a good position for a shot. River Plate's supporters rose to their feet, but Edgard Felipillo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Augusto Txurio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The River Plate fans' excitement grew in the 54th match minute when River Plate's Santos Cheche looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 58th minute the ball was on its way in behind Talaini's goalkeeper Augusto Txurio, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. River Plate's Nicasio Herena got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cipriano Ereinotz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. River Plate's Edgard Felipillo got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nicasio Herena scored 4-1 in the 73rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Augusto Txurio, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Nicasio Herena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cipriano Ereinotz struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Augusto Txurio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for River Plate. When Santos Cheche came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the River Plate fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Santos Cheche couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Talaini's zone, Cipriano Ereinotz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Augusto Txurio came out of the goal and Cipriano Ereinotz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Santos Cheche sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Talaini's Augusto Txurio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marciano Nahia in the 86th minute of play. After 88 minutes of play, River Plate's Nicasio Herena made it 5-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Augusto Txurio was left in no man's land by his defense there! Edgard Felipillo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Santos Cheche fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Augusto Txurio having to interfere. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. River Plate fully deserved thier win.
