Balderrama's Domingos Mero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lisandro Mitxel in the 4th minute of play. Domingos Mero showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jairo Panfilo, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. In the 30th minute Carlos Tallia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cornelio Gorbea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 32 minutes had been played when some careless play by Sol de America's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. The crowd rose to their feet as Lisandro Mitxel kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Domingos Mero. That made the score 1-1 in the 71 minute of play.
