The audience thought a goal was coming when Luisito Abar got free with Braulio Garaile in the 3rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Pastor Seme received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Romeo Walme tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Javier Vidal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to El Eternauta getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Pastor Seme hit a great ball. Pastor Seme fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romeo Walme having to interfere. Romeo Walme came out of the goal in the 15th minute to try and stop a shot by El Eternauta 's Javier Vidal. But to his dismay, Javier Vidal quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After a rather tough play, El Eternauta 's Sergio Acuña got a free kick in the 19th minute. El Eternauta 's Eustaquio Cristos pulled a muscle in his back after 22 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Marcelino Rozarius's late challenge caught a El Eternauta 's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marcelino Rozarius helped the player get up and apologised. After 23 played minutes Francis FC got a freekick which was hit by Marcelino Rozarius. Braulio Garaile took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rogelio Brun, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, El Eternauta 's Braulio Garaile got control of the ball when Luisito Abar tried to sneak it across the goal line. Francis FC's Rogelio Brun got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luisito Abar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Braulio Garaile having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 71st minute, Pastor Seme got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Pastor Seme's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Romeo Walme read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. Luisito Abar might have been able to make a better finish in the 80th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Braulio Garaile. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luisito Abar ran back to his position shaking his head. 80 minutes into the match, El Eternauta 's goal looked a bit too open when Rogelio Brun came free, but Braulio Garaile reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the El Eternauta defense, Rogelio Brun kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Braulio Garaile. The El Eternauta fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Braulio Garaile should have stopped the shot. In the 83rd match minute, El Eternauta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Augusto Romelio to maneuver through the defense. Claudio Conrao hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. If Pastor Seme had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
