The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aristides Marin in the 7th minute of play forced Monsalvo AFC's goalkeeper Lisandro Dantae to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jeronimo Bortzaioriz kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Horquilla defense, Teo Txeru kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cosme Henric. The Horquilla fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cosme Henric should have stopped the shot. Cosme Henric made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teo Txeru in the 19th minute of play. Luisito Chorche's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cosme Henric read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. Cosme Henric showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Teo Txeru, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Anselmo Estevez hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Monsalvo AFC's Lisandro Dantae got control of the ball when Severino Maureo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lázaro Casomiro kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. After 39 minutes, Hilario Fraco mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Monsalvo AFC and the Horquilla players grew even worse after the yellow card. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luisito Chorche was the one to do the kick off. If Aristides Marin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Aristides Marin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Lisandro Dantae tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 58th minute, Jeronimo Bortzaioriz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cosme Henric was a little too slow when Luisito Chorche got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 67th minute. The score was now 0-2. After a rather tough play, Monsalvo AFC's Juan Oso got a free kick in the 70th minute. It was beautiful to see Horquilla's Anselmo Estevez in action when he in the 72nd minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! Lisandro Dantae showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Severino Maureo in the 78th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Monsalvo AFC's zone, Aristides Marin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lisandro Dantae came out of the goal and Aristides Marin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Teo Txeru had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Monsalvo AFC's zone, Severino Maureo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lisandro Dantae came out of the goal and Severino Maureo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Aristides Marin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Horquilla booed when Monsalvo AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lázaro Casomiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 92nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Monsalvo AFC's goalkeeper Lisandro Dantae, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Monsalvo AFC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
