If Juan Gaizkine had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Athletico Bílbao's Tiburcio Bidun got control of the ball when Artemio Osoitz tried to sneak it across the goal line. Artemio Osoitz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tiburcio Bidun read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 9th minute of play. In the 13th minute Rodrigo Lohitzun shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cosme Maura saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 15th minute, Juan Gaizkine fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. After a rather tough play, Athletico Bílbao's Fermin Gil got a free kick in the 16th minute. Tiburcio Bidun showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juan Gaizkine, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Cosme Maura took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rodrigo Lohitzun, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Artemio Osoitz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Tiburcio Bidun made a huge save. In the 40th minute the ball was on its way in behind Kentucky's goalkeeper Cosme Maura, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Cosme Maura showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Apolo Kismi in the 44th minute of the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Artemio Osoitz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tiburcio Bidun having to interfere. When Kentucky's Juan Gaizkine in the 54th minute got a chance for a shot 54th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Athletico Bílbao's goalie prevented a goal. Juan Gaizkine sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tiburcio Bidun came out of the goal in the 58th minute to try and stop a shot by Kentucky's Juan Gaizkine. But to his dismay, Juan Gaizkine quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Tiburcio Bidun stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Artemio Osoitz's shot from short distance in the 63rd minute. Cosme Maura was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Rodrigo Lohitzun showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 66 minute of play. Artemio Osoitz's late challenge caught a Athletico Bílbao's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Artemio Osoitz helped the player get up and apologised. Artemio Osoitz kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. Apolo Kismi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Cosme Maura tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 78 minutes into the match, Athletico Bílbao's Rodrigo Lohitzun sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cosme Maura narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 1-2 came through a penalty shot after 82 played minutes, when Athletico Bílbao:s Patricio Tancredo calmly waited for Kentucky:s goalkeeper to move before he rolled in the ball by the right post. 86 minutes into the match, Kentucky's goal looked a bit too open when Rodrigo Lohitzun came free, but Cosme Maura reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 89 minutes, Juan Gaizkine made it 2-2 with a short kick to the right side. Athletico Bílbao's Tiburcio Bidun tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Juan Gaizkine scored 3-2 in the 92nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tiburcio Bidun, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Athletico Bílbao's Tiburcio Bidun played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juan Gaizkine in the 98th minute of play.
