Humberto Froila started the match with the kick off. 4 minutes into the match, Newels old boys's goalkeeper Basilio Lorien had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Anier Urtun. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Humberto Froila in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Honorato Olentzaro saved Hermenegildo F.C. from getting behind. Anier Urtun sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 24 minutes into the game, Anier Urtun cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Basilio Lorien was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 27 minutes of play, Hermenegildo F.C.'s Anier Urtun made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Basilio Lorien was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Humberto Froila had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hermenegildo F.C.'s Genaro Cristos shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 32nd minute of play. The shot was stopped by Basilio Lorien but with some difficulty. The supporters of Hermenegildo F.C. booed when Newels old boys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guillermo Cebrian didn't get a good kick on the ball. 39 minutes had been played when some careless play by Hermenegildo F.C.'s defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Pastor Odol was slow to take the kick. During this time Newels old boys's players had a chance to rest. Erubiel Abella hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

If Anier Urtun had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Florencio Ugutz came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Hermenegildo F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Florencio Ugutz couldn't finish the play. Guillermo Cebrian kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Anier Urtun sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Honorato Olentzaro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Humberto Froila in the 63rd minute. After 65 played minutes Newels old boys got a freekick which was hit by Cesar Sandaili. Florencio Ugutz's late challenge caught a Newels old boys's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Florencio Ugutz helped the player get up and apologised. After 66 played minutes Hermenegildo F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Florencio Ugutz. Newels old boys's Humberto Froila was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 67th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Miguel Artizar's late challenge caught a Newels old boys's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Miguel Artizar helped the player get up and apologised. In the 72nd match minute, Hermenegildo F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Miguel Artizar to maneuver through the defense. Humberto Froila received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Honorato Olentzaro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Generoso Baleren fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hermenegildo F.C.'s protests and gave Generoso Baleren a yellow card for diving instead. Humberto Froilas short, quick shot in the 78thth minute got Honorato Olentzaro to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. A hard shot 83 in the game by Humberto Froila from a close distance when the talented Honorato Olentzaro managed to make a qualified save. Hermenegildo F.C.'s players were relieved. When Cesar Sandaili came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Newels old boys fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cesar Sandaili couldn't finish the play. 87 minutes into the game, Erubiel Abella recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Honorato Olentzaro. Erubiel Abella showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-3. When the match clock showed 93 minutes, the score became 2-4 when Humberto Froila sped through Hermenegildo F.C.'s defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Honorato Olentzaro. The Newels old boys supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Newels old boys would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
