Severino Urdaspal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnoldo Baumar in the 43rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in RACING CLUB's zone, Arnoldo Baumar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Severino Urdaspal came out of the goal and Arnoldo Baumar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

The wind increased when Arnoldo Baumar made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Tarragona FC's Tobias Ofelio got a free kick in the 55th minute. Julian Che made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mariano Eguntsenti in the 61st minute. Tobias Ofelio was shown his second yellow card after 61 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. The supporters of RACING CLUB booed when Tarragona FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tobias Ofelio didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 63 minutes, Octavio Criston managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. RACING CLUB's supporters crossed their fingers, but Octavio Criston was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Tarragona FC's Isaias Mercurio got a free kick in the 65th minute. Julian Che made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. Julian Che was out of position in the 84 minute of play, and Octavio Criston capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Octavio Criston really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. Tarragona FC's Julian Che played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Octavio Criston in the 87th minute of play. In the 93rd minute, Fabricio Azevedo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julian Che was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. RACING CLUB played a much better game than Tarragona FC and deserved their victory. The Tarragona FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
