After 12 minutes, Horacio Elixio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Romero FC and the Benevento Calcio players grew even worse after the yellow card. Horacio Elixio hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Ildefonso Abechuco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Filomeno Txatxu in the 24th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Romero FC defense, Arturo Nastasio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ildefonso Abechuco. The Romero FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ildefonso Abechuco should have stopped the shot. 47 minutes into the game, Romero FC's Haroldo Demario nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Joaquin Omero made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Haroldo Demario to strike the kick off in the second half. Ildefonso Abechuco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Filomeno Txatxu, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. A collision led to Romero FC getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Horacio Elixio hit a great ball. Ildefonso Abechuco came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by Benevento Calcio's Filomeno Txatxu. But to his dismay, Filomeno Txatxu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. Ildefonso Abechuco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Filomeno Txatxu, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. Ildefonso Abechuco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luis Basajaun in the 71st minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Filomeno Txatxu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Benevento Calcio's supporters rose to their feet, but Filomeno Txatxu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ildefonso Abechuco breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ildefonso Abechuco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Filomeno Txatxu in the 84th minute of play. Haroldo Demario who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 91stth minute tested the skills of Joaquin Omero when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 92nd minute, Benicio Macerio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Luis Basajaun sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 97th match minute, Benevento Calcio was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arturo Nastasio to maneuver through the defense. The Benevento Calcio players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
