In the 3rd minute, Victorino Lucian hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hugo Belirans short, quick shot in the 5thth minute got Sergio Etxepare to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Adan Mendiko received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Robustiano Xabel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Matará getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Julian Munio hit a great ball. If Adan Mendiko had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 25 minutes into the match, Cesar Ubendu dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Sergio Etxepare, 1-0. In the 29th minute, Julian Munio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Epifanio Ereinotz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Matará getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Dalmacio Crescencio hit a great ball. 44 minutes into the game, Adan Mendiko cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Robustiano Xabel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Matará's Sergio Etxepare proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 49th minute of the match, managed to save Matará from getting a goal against them. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ovidio Chale made a kick off. The supporters of Les Blues booed when Matará was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bernabe Maldonado didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hugo Beliran in the 66th minute of play forced Matará's goalkeeper Sergio Etxepare to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Robustiano Xabel didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Adan Mendiko went, in the 72nd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. In the 77th minute, Cesar Ubendu made a precise shot to the right of Sergio Etxepare. Matará's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-2. Matará's Sergio Etxepare played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leon Oidor in the 80th minute of play. After 81 played minutes Matará got a freekick which was hit by Antonio Quintyn. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Hugo Beliran managed to get in a good position for a shot. Les Blues's supporters rose to their feet, but Hugo Beliran was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sergio Etxepare breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sergio Etxepare took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cesar Ubendu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Robustiano Xabel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ovidio Chale, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Cesar Ubendu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sergio Etxepare read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play. If Adan Mendiko had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. For all the effort they put into the match, the Matará players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Les Blues.
