After a defensive mix-up in Boca Juniors's zone, Saul Garikoitz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonatan Dodorol came out of the goal and Saul Garikoitz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jonatan Dodorol made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. 75 minutes into the match, Boca Juniors's Roberto Reynardo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eloy Chepe narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Lucio Valentine scored 3-0 in the 82nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jonatan Dodorol, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. El Rayo's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
