San Lorenzo fc's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Teodoro Evarado came free with the goalkeeper in the 36th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Mario Boniel could save by the left post. Anacleto Vedillo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luis Polo went, in the 39th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in San Lorenzo fc's zone, Alvaro Salomon stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mario Boniel came out of the goal and Alvaro Salomon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Fabio Tancredo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
