In the 19th minute Evelio Joachim shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adan Tello saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Baldomero Ondino hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Adan Tello made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Evelio Joachim in the 22nd minute of play. Magdalena's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sauzal the free kick. The supporters of Sauzal booed when Magdalena was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Higinio Tohias didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Placido Marquez came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Sauzal fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Placido Marquez couldn't finish the play. After 34 played minutes Sauzal got a freekick which was hit by Apolo Ixaka. 38 minutes into the game, Magdalena's Valentin Seme nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Adan Tello made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Miguel Gines sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 43rd minute, Evelio Joachim made a precise shot to the right of Adan Tello. Sauzal's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Placido Marquez in the 51st minute of play forced Magdalena's goalkeeper Leonides Romelio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Magdalena getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Higinio Tohias hit a great ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Victor Garin during the 63rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Victor Garin hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. If Mateo Chorache had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. Adan Tello showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Evelio Joachim, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. In the 93rd minute, Valentin Seme ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Adan Tello was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-6. With an all-out effort, Magdalena's Adan Tello threw himself towards the right post 97 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Evelio Joachim, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The Magdalena supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Magdalena would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
