Amadeo Barea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hernan Lorencio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Higinio Todor made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teofilo Urdaspal in the 22nd minute of play. Amadeo Barea was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Filiberto Pabla showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 23 minute of play. River Plate's Amadeo Barea proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save River Plate from getting a goal against them. Adolfo Mederi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 35 minutes into the game, Angel Velasco was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Fraga's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave River Plate the free kick. After 35 played minutes Fraga got a freekick which was hit by Angel Velasco. Higinio Todor was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
52 minutes had been played when some careless play by Fraga's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Omar Ostots was slow to take the kick. During this time River Plate's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Omar Ostots almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Fraga's Higinio Todor did a great save. Adolfo Mederi struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Higinio Todor didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for River Plate. Hernan Lorencio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Amadeo Barea tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Amadeo Barea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eugenio Nahia, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Valentin Seber charged in rather forcefully in the 60th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Valentin Seber the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 60th match minute, Fraga was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Valentin Seber to maneuver through the defense. Eugenio Nahia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amadeo Barea having to interfere. Fraga's Hernan Lorencio got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Amadeo Barea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eugenio Nahia in the 66th minute of the match. After 67 minutes, Bartolo Muc mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fraga and the River Plate players grew even worse after the yellow card. Maximo Indar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 72 minutes of play, Fraga's Hernan Lorencio made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Amadeo Barea was left in no man's land by his defense there! Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Hernan Lorencio in the 75th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Amadeo Barea prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 81 minutes into the match, Fraga's goalkeeper Higinio Todor had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Omar Ostots. If Maximo Indar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 89 minutes into the match, River Plate's goal looked a bit too open when Hernan Lorencio came free, but Amadeo Barea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Teofilo Urdaspal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Higinio Todor having to interfere. River Plate's Amadeo Barea played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eugenio Nahia in the 95th minute of play.
