But to his dismay, Hernan Garcia quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Leonel Garcia didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Benjamin Natal went, in the 11th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Anier Ovando was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 15 minutes into the match. In the 15th minute, Anier Ovando hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Durazno FC's Delmar Azeari got a free kick in the 24th minute. 25 minutes into the match, Hernan Garcia sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Fernando Peyo threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Hernan Garcia this time. Fernando Peyo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hernan Garcia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Durazno FC booed when Mercedario AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jacobo Tallia didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dante Erramu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Fernando Peyo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 40 minutes, Jacobo Tallia mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mercedario AFC and the Durazno FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hernan Garcia made a kick off. Durazno FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
