The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Benedicto Gamus had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Felix Sagrario. Huemul AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Benedicto Gamus was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. In the 8th minute, Benedicto Gamus left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The INDEPENDIENTE fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Jaime Icedo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Felix Sagrario read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 18th minute of play. INDEPENDIENTE's Victorio Rumaldo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pang Yin in the 24th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gabi Batistuta in the 30th minute of play forced INDEPENDIENTE's goalkeeper Victorio Rumaldo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gabi Batistuta took the ball and in the 30 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Victorio Rumaldo. The referee showed Santos Baladi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Václav Lux hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gabi Batistuta in the 44th minute of play forced INDEPENDIENTE's goalkeeper Victorio Rumaldo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Huemul AFC's Santos Baladi got a free kick in the 45th minute. Václav Lux struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Felix Sagrario didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for INDEPENDIENTE. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-1.

In the 53rdth minute of the game Benedicto Gamus who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Huemul AFC's Felix Sagrario was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Pang Yin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Victorio Rumaldo made a huge save. INDEPENDIENTE's Victorio Rumaldo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save INDEPENDIENTE from getting a goal against them. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jaime Icedo in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Felix Sagrario prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match had gone on for 64 minutes, Amado Tirso took a quick shot and it went in 4-2 without a chance for Victorio Rumaldo to make any attempt to save it. 71 minutes into the match, INDEPENDIENTE's Benedicto Gamus sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Felix Sagrario narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Pang Yin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Victorio Rumaldo having to interfere. Gabi Batistutas short, quick shot in the 74thth minute got Victorio Rumaldo to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Huemul AFC's Gabi Batistuta was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 74th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benedicto Gamus in the 77th minute of play forced Huemul AFC's goalkeeper Felix Sagrario to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With an all-out effort, Huemul AFC's Victorio Rumaldo threw himself towards the right post 95 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Amado Tirso, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. There was no doubt that INDEPENDIENTE were the better team. INDEPENDIENTE's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
