The Last Try
Spectators: 7967 (Terracing: 5977, Seating: 1832, VIP seats: 158) Los Piratas FC's Oscar Santo started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. James Barnes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vasile Pisculescu in the 2nd minute. When the match had gone on for 7 minutes, Oscar Santo put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Tao Cheng Zhi. 10 minutes into the match, El ultimo's goal looked a bit too open when Jorge Cervera came free, but Tao Cheng Zhi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. El ultimo's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Ke Xiang in the 13th minute. A nice corner shot did that Ke Xiang got away a dangerous shot. Despite this James Barnes quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vasile Pisculescu in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg James Barnes saved Los Piratas FC from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Los Piratas FC's zone, Vasile Pisculescu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. James Barnes came out of the goal and Vasile Pisculescu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 27 minutes into the match, El ultimo's Luis Bemabe sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that James Barnes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 28th minute of the match El ultimo got a corner. Los Piratas FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ke Xiang ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 29th minute, Celestino Nisio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. James Barnes was a little too slow when Luis Bemabe got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 32nd minute. The score was now 1-1. El ultimo's Tao Cheng Zhi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oscar Santo in the 38th minute of play. Tao Cheng Zhi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oscar Santo in the 43rd minute of play. Tao Cheng Zhi came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by Los Piratas FC's Oscar Santo. But to his dismay, Oscar Santo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Candido Ospin in the 52nd minute of play forced El ultimo's goalkeeper Tao Cheng Zhi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 53rd minute Los Piratas FC were awarded a corner. 俞广扬 went to the cornerflag to take it. With a little luck, El ultimo's Tao Cheng Zhi got control of the ball when Oscar Santo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Tao Cheng Zhi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jorge Cervera, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When El ultimo's Vasile Pisculescu in the 71st minute got a chance for a shot 71st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Los Piratas FC's goalie prevented a goal. Jorge Cervera fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tao Cheng Zhi having to interfere. El ultimo made a substitution. Carlos Alberto Sabóia replaced Felipe Venceslas. El ultimo's Tao Cheng Zhi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save El ultimo from getting a goal against them. James Barnes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vasile Pisculescu in the 90th minute of play. 93 minutes into the game, 俞广扬 was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Los Piratas FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave El ultimo the free kick. The supporters of El ultimo booed when Los Piratas FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. 俞广扬 didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 94th minute Vasile Pisculescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but James Barnes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Los Piratas FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Los Piratas FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
