The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 12 minutes into the match, Polo Quinteros notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of NUMBA's Justo Ruy. Justo Ruy was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Justo Ruy didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Polo Quinteros went, in the 18th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Arnaldo Chano hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Santa Lucia de Merlo's Florentino Herauso proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save Santa Lucia de Merlo from getting a goal against them. NUMBA's Justo Ruy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Polo Quinteros in the 28th minute of play. Justo Ruy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Polo Quinteros, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 33 minutes into the game, Hernan Louis was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Santa Lucia de Merlo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave NUMBA the free kick. In the 33rd match minute, Santa Lucia de Merlo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hernan Louis to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 34 minutes, Bernardino Orlin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. NUMBA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bernardino Orlin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Hernan Louis was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 39 minutes had been played. In the 40th minute, Hernan Louis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bernardino Orlin was extremely unlucky when he, in the 41st minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. A hard shot 44 in the game by Bernardo Quinten from a close distance when the talented Florentino Herauso managed to make a qualified save. Santa Lucia de Merlo's players were relieved. Florentino Herauso was a little too slow when Fabio Sadurni got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 46th minute. The score was now 1-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Santa Lucia de Merlo's M. Agus Young was substituted for Polo Quinteros. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, M. Agus Young managed to get in a good position for a shot. Santa Lucia de Merlo's supporters rose to their feet, but M. Agus Young was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Justo Ruy breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Florentino Herauso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jonatan Palban in the 57th minute of the match. 59 minutes into the match, NUMBA's goal looked a bit too open when M. Agus Young came free, but Justo Ruy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Santa Lucia de Merlo's Florentino Herauso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonatan Palban in the 63rd minute of play. Florentino Herauso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jonatan Palban, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bernardo Quinten fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Florentino Herauso having to interfere. M. Agus Young recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Florentino Herauso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Aztore, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. After 73 minutes Santa Lucia de Merlo's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Bernardino Orlin who took care of the corner kick. It was a well-played corner which Bernardo Quinten managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Justo Ruy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from M. Agus Young, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. M. Agus Young took the ball and in the 77 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Justo Ruy. Justo Ruy dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. After some careless play in the Santa Lucia de Merlo defense, Fabio Sadurni kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Florentino Herauso. The Santa Lucia de Merlo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Florentino Herauso should have stopped the shot. Justo Ruy made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when M. Agus Young sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fabio Sadurni in the 87th minute of play forced Santa Lucia de Merlo's goalkeeper Florentino Herauso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 89th minute, Arnaldo Chano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Santa Lucia de Merlo's M. Agus Young got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Fabio Sadurni's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Florentino Herauso was relentless in the 94th minute of the game. Santa Lucia de Merlo's M. Agus Young got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
