In the 5th match minute, Wolne Miasto Gdańsk was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sam Hendry to maneuver through the defense. In the 7th minute, Arthur McMillan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rupert Cobb didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Kenny McCrouther went, in the 7th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Vincent McMurdo hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Wolne Miasto Gdańsk's zone, Kenny McCrouther stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rupert Cobb came out of the goal and Kenny McCrouther tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Arthur McMillan in the 16th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rupert Cobb saved Wolne Miasto Gdańsk from getting behind. After 18 minutes, Arthur McMillan made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Wolne Miasto Gdańsk's Rupert Cobb tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Arthur McMillan managed to get in a good position for a shot. ST. JOHNS CLUB's supporters rose to their feet, but Arthur McMillan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rupert Cobb breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Kenny McCrouther came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the ST. JOHNS CLUB fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kenny McCrouther couldn't finish the play. Rupert Cobb showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kenny McCrouther in the 29th minute of the match. Wolne Miasto Gdańsk's Rupert Cobb played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arthur McMillan in the 31st minute of play. After some careless play in the Wolne Miasto Gdańsk defense, Arthur McMillan kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rupert Cobb. The Wolne Miasto Gdańsk fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rupert Cobb should have stopped the shot. Rupert Cobb stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kenny McCrouther's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Douglas Galloway during the 40th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of ST. JOHNS CLUB booed when Wolne Miasto Gdańsk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Douglas Galloway didn't get a good kick on the ball. Arthur McMillan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rupert Cobb having to interfere. Rupert Cobb took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vinny Ainsworth, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Arthur McMillan made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by William Galloway in the 53rd minute of play forced ST. JOHNS CLUB's goalkeeper Richard Jamieson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 53 minutes into the game, one of ST. JOHNS CLUB:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Vinny Ainsworth charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Vinny Ainsworth the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to ST. JOHNS CLUB getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Vinny Ainsworth hit a great ball. Alisdair Meine took the ball and in the 59 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Richard Jamieson. Richard Jamieson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. Arthur McMillan scored 1-5 in the 67th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rupert Cobb, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 70th play minute Arthur McMillan came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Rupert Cobb. 1-6. After 73 played minutes ST. JOHNS CLUB got a freekick which was hit by Arthur McMillan. Richard Jamieson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Darius Milne, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. After having played for 80 minutes, Vinny Ainsworth managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ST. JOHNS CLUB's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vinny Ainsworth was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Darius Milne received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Richard Jamieson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Douglas Galloway had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Richard Jamieson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Darius Milne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 91 minutes into the game, Wolne Miasto Gdańsk's William Galloway nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Richard Jamieson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-6. 97 minutes into the game, Arthur McMillan recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Rupert Cobb. Arthur McMillan showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-7. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched ST. JOHNS CLUB eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
