Luís Oliveira hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. 9 minutes in the game, Octávio Valadão dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. FZZ Sport Club's Domingos Rangel managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Osvaldo França in the 13 minute of the game. After a rather tough play, FZZ Sport Club's Domingos Rangel got a free kick in the 16th minute. Jorge Esteves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luís Oliveira in the 17th minute of the match. 26 minutes into the match, FZZ Sport Club's goalkeeper Jorge Esteves had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Teodoro Lameiras. In the 27th minute Luís Oliveira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jorge Esteves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Osvaldo Alvarenga showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Octávio Valadão, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Ivo Ponte hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Through an outstanding action, after 36 minutes, Jorge Esteves successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After 40 played minutes Red Star Monção got a freekick which was hit by Andaka Babalov. 42 minutes into the match, FZZ Sport Club's goal looked a bit too open when Andaka Babalov came free, but Jorge Esteves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jorge Esteves made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Teodoro Lameiras sent off a good shot on target. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for John Wayne to strike the kick off in the second half. A collision led to FZZ Sport Club getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Ivo Ponte hit a great ball. 57 minutes into the match, FZZ Sport Club's goal looked a bit too open when Luís Oliveira came free, but Jorge Esteves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Octávio Valadão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Osvaldo Alvarenga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Octávio Valadão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 67 minutes of play, Red Star Monção's Teodoro Lameiras made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jorge Esteves was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 72nd minute Luís Oliveira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jorge Esteves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Red Star Monção booed when FZZ Sport Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivo Ponte didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 74 played minutes, Red Star Monção's André França shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jorge Esteves came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Red Star Monção reached it. After having played for 76 minutes, André França managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Red Star Monção's supporters crossed their fingers, but André França was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Red Star Monção's Luís Oliveira got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by John Wayne in the 80th minute of play forced FZZ Sport Club's goalkeeper Jorge Esteves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vasco Resende's late challenge caught a FZZ Sport Club's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. When Cássio Rijo came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the FZZ Sport Club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cássio Rijo couldn't finish the play. Octávio Valadão recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of FZZ Sport Club booed when Red Star Monção was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Osvaldo França didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Domingos Rangel managed to get in a good position for a shot. FZZ Sport Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Domingos Rangel was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Osvaldo Alvarenga breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. André França kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. After having played for 96 minutes, Octávio Valadão managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FZZ Sport Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Octávio Valadão was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. FZZ Sport Club's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
