After 16 played minutes F.C. Valinor got a freekick which was hit by Basarab Floreanu. Joaquim Campelo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Máximo Galvão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Narciso Vianna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 23rd minute Felipe Coulter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Américo Brandão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. F.C. Valinor's Narciso Vianna got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 30th minute, Felipe Coulter reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Américo Brandão. The goal made the score 2-0. Narciso Vianna received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Américo Brandão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Narciso Vianna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Narciso Vianna who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 39thth minute tested the skills of Américo Brandão when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Américo Brandão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felipe Coulter in the 41st minute of play. Joaquim Campelo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Máximo Galvão, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. If Nuno Soares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The SC Braga fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Américo Brandão should have stopped the shot. Felipe Coulter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Américo Brandão having to interfere. After some careless play in the SC Braga defense, Narciso Vianna kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Américo Brandão. The SC Braga fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Américo Brandão should have stopped the shot. Renato Dantas was shown his second yellow card after 79 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 81st minute Nuno Soares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Américo Brandão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 83 minutes into the match, SC Braga's goal looked a bit too open when Narciso Vianna came free, but Américo Brandão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
