Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Caroll Lester started the match with the kick off. With a little luck, Clonarrow's Carrig Callaghan got control of the ball when Kevion Mulvihill tried to sneak it across the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Caroll Lester in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Carrig Callaghan saved Clonarrow from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Monasterevin's Caroll Lester got a free kick in the 17th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Caroll Lester got free with Carrig Callaghan in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Caroll Lester fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carrig Callaghan having to interfere. After 26 minutes of play, Monasterevin's Kevion Mulvihill made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Carrig Callaghan was left in no man's land by his defense there! Carrig Callaghan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Caroll Lester, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Kevion Mulvihill might have been able to make a better finish in the 46th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Carrig Callaghan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kevion Mulvihill ran back to his position shaking his head. Caroll Lester fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carrig Callaghan having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Baird Scully stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Baird Scully received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Art McSteven tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Donall Hutton recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Kevion Mulvihill fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carrig Callaghan having to interfere. 67 minutes into the game, Monasterevin's Caroll Lester nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Carrig Callaghan made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. 71 minutes into the match, Clonarrow's goal looked a bit too open when Caroll Lester came free, but Carrig Callaghan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 74th minute, Monasterevin's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Donall Hutton fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. When Theobald McBrand fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Monasterevin's protests and gave Theobald McBrand a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 76th minute of the game. One of Monasterevin:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Clonarrow:s goal. When the match had been going on for 78 minutes, Clonarrow's Bardon Jameson got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Art McSteven. Carrig Callaghan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Caroll Lester in the 81st minute of the match. When Kevion Mulvihill came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Monasterevin fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kevion Mulvihill couldn't finish the play. If Caroll Lester had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 86th minute Kevion Mulvihill shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carrig Callaghan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Caroll Lester sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Monasterevin walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
