The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Jools Windsor scored 0-1 in the 16th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Aaron Smed, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 19th minute of the game Mick Fairs made a throw-in which Barrie Ellerby played forward. 20 minutes into the match, FC Barcelona's goal looked a bit too open when Barrie Ellerby came free, but Aaron Smed reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Charlie Griffiths charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Charlie Griffiths the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to FC Barcelona getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Charlie Griffiths hit a great ball. In the 23rd minute, Briarios Giannacopulos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 25th minute Barrie Ellerby shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aaron Smed saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wesley Cardwell took the ball and in the 27 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Aaron Smed. Aaron Smed dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 32ndth minute of the game Wesley Cardwell who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Barcelona's Aaron Smed was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Briarios Giannacopulos might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonny Hume. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Briarios Giannacopulos ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 37th minute, Briarios Giannacopulos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jo Lambert recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, FC Barcelona's Jonathon Houlahan got a free kick in the 45th minute. Aaron Smed showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stefan Willets in the 46th minute of the match. Aaron Smed took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Barrie Ellerby, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Stefan Willets was the one to do the kick off. FC Barcelona's Briarios Giannacopulos got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 54 minutes of play, FC Barcelona's Briarios Giannacopulos made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jonny Hume was left in no man's land by his defense there! Charlie Griffiths sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Johnny Broad during the 65th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 67 minutes into the match, FC Barcelona's goal looked a bit too open when Wesley Cardwell came free, but Aaron Smed reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 68 minutes, Briarios Giannacopulos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Barcelona's supporters crossed their fingers, but Briarios Giannacopulos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 71st minute, Wesley Cardwell reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Aaron Smed. The goal made the score 1-3. Barrie Ellerby received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Aaron Smed came out and tried to block the shot, but Barrie Ellerby slotted it home off the left post making it 1-4 in the 73rd minute. With a little luck, FC Barcelona's Aaron Smed got control of the ball when Wesley Cardwell tried to sneak it across the goal line. FC Barcelona's Aaron Smed proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save FC Barcelona from getting a goal against them. In the 80th minute, Robert Fox hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. FC Barcelona's Briarios Giannacopulos got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
