Jack Hanley showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dominik Griggs, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Jack Hanley was out of position in the 28 minute of play, and Dominik Griggs capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Dominik Griggs really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. After some careless play in the burton united defense, Kristopher Bodsworth kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vern Weedon. The burton united fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vern Weedon should have stopped the shot. Simeon Afful fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vern Weedon having to interfere. The burton united fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vern Weedon should have stopped the shot. Ingatestone's Simeon Afful got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Vern Weedon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Simeon Afful in the 45th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tosh Ashton in the 48th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vern Weedon saved burton united from getting behind. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-3 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Simeon Afful was the one to do the kick off. Tosh Ashton might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Vern Weedon. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tosh Ashton ran back to his position shaking his head. burton united's Vern Weedon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kevin Chadwick in the 55th minute of play. Vern Weedon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Simeon Afful, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 65 minutes into the match, Ingatestone's Kristopher Bodsworth sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Vern Weedon narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 70 played minutes burton united got a freekick which was hit by Ralf Knightley. Kristopher Bodsworth could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Vern Weedon made a huge save. After a rather tough play, burton united's Scott Barat got a free kick in the 75th minute. In the 79th minute, Olly Thurman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
