Vic Rush's late challenge caught a Everton FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vic Rush helped the player get up and apologised. In the 4th match minute, Tottenham was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vic Rush to maneuver through the defense. After 7 played minutes Everton FC got a freekick which was hit by Howard Tyrell. Rufus Williams recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Everton FC getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Gareth Ainge hit a great ball. Vic Rush got his second yellow card in the match during the 17th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The supporters of Everton FC booed when Tottenham was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vic Rush didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jeffrey Osmond was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 19th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The supporters of Everton FC booed when Tottenham was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Garry Wittingham didn't get a good kick on the ball. Everton FC's Jeffrey Osmond couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 24th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Tottenham. Kevin Jewson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Tottenham's goalkeeper Russell Chilton, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Garry Wittingham hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. 37 minutes into the game, Everton FC's Kevin Jewson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Russell Chilton made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. When the match clock showed 44 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Kevin Jewson sped through Tottenham's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Russell Chilton. After a defensive mix-up in Tottenham's zone, Kevin Jewson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Russell Chilton came out of the goal and Kevin Jewson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 55th minute, one of Tottenham:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Tottenham. When the match had been going on for 56 minutes, Everton FC's Jeffrey Osmond got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Russell Chilton. Andy Dixon kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. Jeremy Holdsworth was extremely unlucky when he, in the 64th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Andy Dixon charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Andy Dixon the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 67 played minutes Tottenham got a freekick which was hit by Andy Dixon. Jeremy Holdsworth fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Russell Chilton having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Everton FC's zone, Rufus Williams stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Brian Cordingley came out of the goal and Rufus Williams tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tottenham's Russell Chilton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kevin Jewson in the 76th minute of play. A hard shot 77 in the game by Jeremy Holdsworth from a close distance when the talented Russell Chilton managed to make a qualified save. Tottenham's players were relieved. Russell Chilton made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jeremy Holdsworth in the 78th minute. After 80 minutes of play, Everton FC's Kevin Jewson made it 0-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Russell Chilton was left in no man's land by his defense there! Kevin Jewson might have been able to make a better finish in the 85th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Russell Chilton. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kevin Jewson ran back to his position shaking his head. Brian Cordingley showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rufus Williams in the 87th minute of the match. 92 minutes into the match, Tottenham's goal looked a bit too open when Kevin Jewson came free, but Russell Chilton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Russell Chilton came out of the goal in the 93rd minute to try and stop a shot by Everton FC's Jeremy Holdsworth. But to his dismay, Jeremy Holdsworth quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-6. Russell Chilton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kevin Jewson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
