Martyn Bullard fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sly Schofield having to interfere. Mike Wardill sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Michael Merchant in the 28th minute of play forced Brabusss's goalkeeper Johnathan Shaw to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Northallerton defense, Stephen Mimms kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sly Schofield. The Northallerton fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sly Schofield should have stopped the shot. In the 37th minute John-Paul Bloom shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Johnathan Shaw saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. John-Paul Bloom received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Johnathan Shaw came out and tried to block the shot, but John-Paul Bloom slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 40th minute. 45 minutes into the match, Brabusss's goalkeeper Johnathan Shaw had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mike Wardill. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for John-Paul Bloom to strike the kick off in the second half. Johnathan Shaw didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from John-Paul Bloom went, in the 52nd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. In the 55th minute Mike Wardill shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Johnathan Shaw saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. John-Paul Bloom took the ball and in the 58 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Johnathan Shaw. Johnathan Shaw dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. After having played for 64 minutes, Geoff Quinn managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Brabusss's supporters crossed their fingers, but Geoff Quinn was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Johnathan Shaw took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mike Wardill, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Brabusss's Johnathan Shaw played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by John-Paul Bloom in the 71st minute of play. When Geoff Quinn came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Brabusss fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Geoff Quinn couldn't finish the play. 82 minutes into the game, Northallerton's John-Paul Bloom nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Johnathan Shaw made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. Geoff Quinn received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Sly Schofield came out and tried to block the shot, but Geoff Quinn slotted it home off the left post making it 4-2 in the 85th minute. 89 minutes into the match, Brabusss's goal looked a bit too open when Mike Wardill came free, but Johnathan Shaw reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 89th minute, Martyn Bullard hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Johnathan Shaw made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from John-Paul Bloom in the 92nd minute of play. Stephen Mimms fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sly Schofield having to interfere. Brabusss's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
