The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Lovedean getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Wes Cheswick hit a great ball. Vernon Hall made a fantastic save in the 10th minute, when Wayne Denham sent off a good shot on target. 12 minutes in the game Ron Lilley did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Lloyd Lennon. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rory Maylett in the 14th minute of play forced Lovedean's goalkeeper Vernon Hall to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 15 minutes into the match, Wayne Denham had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vernon Hall. Lovedean's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Wayne Denham was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Rory Maylett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vernon Hall having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 21 minutes, Rory Maylett took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Vernon Hall to make any attempt to save it. Vernon Hall took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rory Maylett, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 27th minute Lewis Horsey shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vernon Hall saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bryan Bryden kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. 31 minutes into the game, Lovedean's Sam Warner nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lucas Hold made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lewis Horsey got free with Vernon Hall in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 36th minute, Rory Maylett ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vernon Hall was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. In the 42nd minute Rory Maylett shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vernon Hall saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Teddy Whalley managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ryde Warriors's supporters rose to their feet, but Teddy Whalley was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vernon Hall breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rory Maylett made a kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Wayne Denham cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Vernon Hall was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Lucas Hold showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sam Warner in the 55th minute of the match. After 76 minutes of play, Ryde Warriors's Lewis Horsey made it 6-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Vernon Hall was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Rory Maylett had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 83rd minute, Rory Maylett left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ryde Warriors fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 7-1. After 86 minutes, Wes Cheswick mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lovedean and the Ryde Warriors players grew even worse after the yellow card. Wayne Denham received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Vernon Hall tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vernon Hall made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lewis Horsey in the 96th minute of play. For all the effort they put into the match, the Lovedean players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Ryde Warriors.
