The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 19 minutes into the match, Flushing FC's goal looked a bit too open when Pete Bridgewater came free, but Bill Medlin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bill Medlin came out of the goal and Bruce Starr tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bill Medlin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pete Bridgewater, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. In the 78th minute, Alan Noble got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
