Spectators: 6600 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1500, VIP seats: 100) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Tom Norton kicked off to start the match. Ashley Webster had several of the Brompton FC's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 3 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Iain Layfield as he didn't even see the shot coming. Dion Busby received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Iain Layfield tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Brompton FC getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Ray Ablethorpe hit a great ball. 10 minutes into the game Dion Busby came into a good position and shot a long shot on goal. In spite of Iain Layfield trying to reach the ball it went through just inside the left pole. 2-0. Lenny Owen hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Ashley Webster's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Iain Layfield was relentless in the 15th minute of the game. Iain Layfield didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Cleckheaton's Ashley Webster shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 3-0 in the ordered_time% minute. 20 minutes into the match, Tom Norton had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tris Long. Cleckheaton's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tom Norton was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. After 23 played minutes Brompton FC got a freekick which was hit by Brynn Pettifer. Ashley Webster in the 24thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Iain Layfield, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Brendon Mayfield got free with Iain Layfield in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Brynn Pettifer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cleckheaton's goalkeeper Tris Long, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 36 minutes, Ashley Webster put it in 4-1 from a short distance just to the right of Iain Layfield. Jermaine Lowndes's late challenge caught a Brompton FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jermaine Lowndes helped the player get up and apologised. Jermaine Lowndes kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. After 46 minutes of play, Cleckheaton's Dion Busby made it 5-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Iain Layfield was left in no man's land by his defense there! The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 5-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ashley Webster was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Brompton FC's zone, Brendon Mayfield stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Iain Layfield came out of the goal and Brendon Mayfield tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Eric Addison sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Dion Busby managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cleckheaton's supporters rose to their feet, but Dion Busby was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Iain Layfield breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Iain Layfield took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Greg Schofield, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kris Parks in the 58th minute of play forced Brompton FC's goalkeeper Iain Layfield to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ashley Webster sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Tom Norton came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Brompton FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tom Norton couldn't finish the play. Ashley Webster received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Iain Layfield tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lenny Owen kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. Brynn Pettifer's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tris Long read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 76th minute of play. Tris Long showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tom Norton in the 84th minute of the match. If Eric Addison had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ashley Webster in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Iain Layfield saved Brompton FC from getting behind. When the referee ended the match the Cleckheaton players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
