When the match clock showed 19 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Ian Watson sped through Romaldkirk AFC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of 蒋远森. After having played for 25 minutes, Robbie Arrowsmith managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Romaldkirk AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Robbie Arrowsmith was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half Plaistow United were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ian Watson to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vasco Freire got free with 蒋远森 in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 蒋远森 showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ian Watson in the 55th minute of the match. 55 minutes into the match, Romaldkirk AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Vasco Freire came free, but 蒋远森 reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Alf Key's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but 蒋远森 was relentless in the 57th minute of the game. Frank Eliasson hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Ian Sissons made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Klement Dunajski in the 95th minute of play. The Romaldkirk AFC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Plaistow United's performance. The match ended with a win for Plaistow United.
